In February of 2008 Northland Animal Hospital was one of the first hospitals in the area to offer an analysis for those mixed-breed pet owners who were interested to learn the breed makeup of their companion pet. Northland A.H. is now pleased to announce the launch of Wisdom Panel™ Professional. This is an enhancement of the previous mixed-breed analysis Wisdom Panel™ MX.

Wisdom Panel™ Professional is a state-of-the-art genetics analysis that goes above and beyond breed detection for mixed-breed dogs. The ground-breaking enhancements that are part of this analysis are:

1) Expanded breed detection. Over 200 breeds, types and varieties. This represents a 27% increase in breed detection.

2) Weight prediction functionality. The analysis will predict a puppy’s adult genetic weight range, which can help us develop an early nutrition and exercise program for your pet.

3) Health risk pre-screening. The analysis will check for a pet’s breed-related risk of developing 16 different inherited health conditions. The analysis does not directly perform the diagnostic test for the conditions, but this new pre-screen feature will help us make more informed decisions about preventative care measures for a mixed-breed dog.

Wisdom Panel™ Professional will pre-screen for 14 different Optigen™ diseases, Multi-Drug Resistance, and Exercise Induced Collapse Disorder.
