BEHAVIOR MANAGMENT
______________________________________________
Northland Animal Hospital has an emphasis
on family medicine. This does not stop at the medical needs of
your pet but involves the healthy development of your petís
behaviors. Behavioral problems are one of
most reported reasons for pet surrenders at our shelters. This
is why we strive to develop a healthy relationship between your
family
and companion pet.
Veterinary
medicine is unique in that we frequently will provide all of your
pets needs from adolescence on through to the elder years. Establishing
positive reinforcement for tasks and behaviors is the essential
building block to raising a companion animal. We will we will
provide behavior and health tips that can help develop a great
relationship for the next eight to twenty-five years.
These
special family members age an average of seven years to one human
year. Adolescences to the geriatic years occurs very quickly.
We focus on these areas as part of a routine wellness plan to
make sure that each life transition is smooth.
We
offer consultations on behavior problems such as house soiling,
barking and separation anxiety. Treatment plans usually involve
behavioral modification and may involve drug treatment as well.
Behavioral problems are easiest to treat early in their course
before patterns are developed. |
