LABROATORY DIAGNOSTICS
______________________________________________
Many
technologies that help humans live longer, healthier lives are
also available for your pet. By performing a few basic tests we
are able to gather a wealth of information concerning the well
being of your pet.
Here are just a few of the wellness tests available for us to
use in the care of your pet:
Complete Blood Count (CBC)
This tests for anemia, infection, inflammation and the
healthiness of blood cells.
Chemistry Tests
These panels survey many of the organ systems of the
body to make sure they are working properly.
Thyroid Function Tests
These tests are useful in diagnosing increased (hyper) or
decreased (hypo) functions of the thyroid gland.
Urinalysis
These test assesses the health and function of the urinary system.
They are used to detect kidney problems, bladder infections, diabetes,
and other metabolic problems
Fecal Analysis
Our routine fecal (parasitical) analysis of you pet is done using
a centrifugation technique. Although more time consuming and expensive
to run then a standard fecal flotation test centrifugation is
much more accurate. This test identifies a higher number of parasites
which aid us in providing better care for your companion. A number
of these parasites are even contagious to people. For these reasons
fecal centrifugation has become the standard of care at Northland
Animal Hospital.
We offer a wide range of other diagnostic services including bacteriology,
virology, mycology, parasitology, hematology and biochemistry.
